  4. Sage had an amazing story. I think having the exchange students was eye opening. Looking back at my classese, I now realize that many students do not respect their teachers. I completely agreed with this message. I also think that Americans do not realize how good life is in general.

  6. Sage- the story you chose was very moving. Maybe try to make more eye contact with the students. I think the message you weretrying to get across is value our education. With the stories of kids from Africa it make me realize how blessed I am and how lucky I actually am. You handled yourself well for having a stressful moment before! :-)

  8. I love how Sage incorperated her life into her talk. I think her slides are very interesting. I like that she really cared about her topic and wanted the class to understand. Sage had a very intersting topic that really caught my attention. The talk really moved me and made me want to do something about education. I now know the difference between education in diffferent countries. The value of education is important and I never realized how much we take school for granted. I will take Sage's words and start to value my education.

  11. Sage did a great job connecting the larger idea to the specific story. She also spent equal time on the story and on the bigger idea. Her closing was very involved and challenged each of us in the class. Good job Sage.

  12. Sage,

You had a great point to make. You made it well, too. I liked your sharing of personal experience with the exchange students. You helped us to realize how lucky we are, and how little we are taking advantage of our education. Good job!

You stumbled over your words a little, such as saying "um" and "like" a lot. I recommend a little more practice so you can remember your words like that (*SNAP!*).

Good job, and great idea in using your own experiences to improve your talk.

  14. Sage did a great job in showing how much she feels education is important to everyone, not just Americans who count education as a chore rather than a privilege. She told a story about how she hosted kids from Africa, and how amazed they were at our school and how blessed we were to have the chance to learn every day. It was like a wake up call hearing what these kids go through every day to get to school, not knowing if they would even get to learn or not, while we take our education for granted. Sage stuttered a bit in the beginning of the speech, but she did a great job later on and in proving the point of what matters to her: value in education.

  16. Sage's TED Talk was very interesting. I like how she provided a perspective of American education different than an American student. It made me wonder how I could change my thoughts on school and try to enjoy it. It was a very interesting TED Talk.

  19. Sage- You gave an amazing TED on the value of education through how other people lack it. It gives a great comparison on how Americans take education completely for granted. Thanks for pointing that out to all of us!

  20. Your story of Otto and Mary, the students from Afica, really improved the understanding of your TED talk. Her emotion when describing Otto at Barnes and Nobles really connected and furthered the idea of how we dont really value education as those in Kenya. Overall it was good.

  23. I thought it was cool that Ado said he wanted a book of science and God. It really shows how much we take for granted and that we should use every opportunity to educate our selves. Good job Sage!

  24. That made me feel very depressed with Mary's story. I would say that but my tlak was the same topic and realized that edu was imprortant in 6th grade.Overall, great job.

  25. That was great. The stories of Ado and Mary were incredible, and you tied them flawlessly to a major problem in our modern education. It really opened my eyes on a major problem that kids have on the way they view education.

  27. Sage- I liked the stories you used! The stories you told about the foreign exchange students makes the audience think. It shows them how lucky they are, and how little appreciation they have for education. It connects emotion to your topic when use Otto as an example of appreciating education. It was good how you said flat out the kids in America do not apppreciate education.

  28. Should WE Have to earn our education? NO, it is a right. Yes, we should be grateful, but is it our parent’s fault or the teenagers? In my opinion, both sides must make an effort for there to be change. Isn’t educational reform needed, as outlined in AWNM and our discussions? The story was a bit lengthy, and got a little off topic. Are you trying to say that Africa shouldn't have to work for education or that America should?
