Even though Elise started out a little rocky, her pressentation really shed light on how people with money treat those who don't. It was a really inspiring TED talk.
Elise,When I first got the inkling of what your talk was about, I thought "communism!" However, you explained away this preconceived notion as you went. You didn't say we should give all to the poor and all be equal. You just said we can help in different ways.I liked your experiences you shared about going to Mexico. It showed that you are not a hypocrite in what you are talking about.Don't worry, talking gets easier as you do it more! Keep working at it, and you'll get it down.-Matthew Cheney
Elise shared her own opinion about how important it is to help the poor, and how we have misconceptions about how we help these people. Money isn't the only answer, and that shows our ignorance of the reality of poverty. She gave the class the confidence that we CAN help, rather than just stand and watch. Elise showed that she isn't just talking the talk, but walking the walk because she herself goes on mission trips to help others by building houses for the poor. This matters to her because she is practicing what she believes in.
I agree with Mariah. We need to better help those in need, especially if we have money.
Elise- Your point is very good. This has been an issue for years, and though it is frequently discussed, many people do nothing. Your talk will inspire the people who are able to hep to do so. You have showed them that anything they can give would be very precious to the poor. The idea of other ways of helping besides money was great!
Elise did a great job. I really liked her topic and although she had a tough time in the beginning, she did a good job of fixing it and getting he point across. I really liked what she was talking about and she was able to make us all think a little.
You had a really great speech! It is irritating to see a cruise ship that is huge, while people in Haiti are living in small homes. Many people remain ignorant of what poor people experience. I love how you go help out the church. It is great to see people who are not as priviledged as us to make progress. Excellent speech!
The pictures that you compared on the first slide really made me aware of how much money we spend on non-necessities when others don't have basic supplies they need to survive. Don't freak out; you did really well! I am really inspired now to go out and help people who don't have as much as I do.
Elise-You did a great job! It's ok everyone gets nervous you still did a great job! I really like your topic because it can connect to everyone. This talk makes me want to go out and change the world now. The only thing I would say is practice a little more but other than that great job!
Elise,Good job! Way to make your points! I think you did a great job of pushing through! Your message was really good and helped me see that no matter what age you are, you can still make a difference in the world.
Good job! I thihnk you did really well of showing all the different points of views, rich and poor. I think you had great images that really got the cold hard truth out.
I think your idea of building relationships with the poor is really important, and outside of the box. I also think the program of Kiva is interesting, and I'm glad you included that.
Your topic was very powerful! There is so much poverty in the world in every state, country, etc. It inspires me to want to help more for sure. You held yourself together very well through out the whole thing which can sometimes be a hard thing to do. I also think it's very cool thatyou wrote your own ted sentence for this! :)
Elise - You had a very interesting and eye-opening presentation of poverty. You obviously have a deep interest in this topic, and this showed in an emotional and impressive speech. The multiple images and stories were great, and enhanced your topic. Great Job!
Elise- That is a great topic to talk about. There is a statistic that 95% of the wealth of the world is controlled by the top 10% of people. That doesn't make sense.
I thought Elise's TED Talk was very interesting. Even though she started shaky, she brought it together and kept it together. She made a good point in saying that you do not need money to help people. You just need to care. Elise's TED Talk was inspiring.
Elise, I think your topic is a very important topic! I think your ideas are very amazing and was very beautifully thought through! I like how you encorportated meaning and purpose into your talk! Great job!
I think the overall presentation was very good. The points were creative and made the talk very effective. I thought it was an interesting topic and made me want to do something. Great job!
I liked how elise used her mission trips to mexico. I also liked how she used her life experiences to show how important it is to help.
Elise- I love you! Even though you started of a little bit rocky you came back and rocked it! I loved your pictures. You being in the picutes helped the audience connect with them. I loved your topic. You go girl!
Elise- You adressed poverty, explained it, showed the problems of how we deal with it, how you dealed with it, and overall were very inspiring! I've been to other states in order to help the underprivledged, and I can easily connect. You showed us what was wrong with this picture!
