  2. Megan told her story about how someone she loved had to go through the devastating effects of cancer. The way she talked about cancer was so meaningful because she spoke with raw emotion that made me feel empathy for what she's gone through. I could easily connect with Megan because my own grandpa passed away from lung cancer because of something he did in the past. I really liked your talk Megan, and I feel like this IS something that truly matters, because it effects everyone around you.

  4. Megan, you started with a personal story which you still connected to throughout the speech. You broadened your perspective past just cancer and made it apply to all of our everyday lives. You also challenged us. Good job Megan.

  5. Megan,
I cannot explain how much your presentation meant to me. Your story really made an impact on me and I really appreciate you sharing it. I loved how after you told a story, you used a lot of evidence to prove your point. Wonderful job!

  6. Megan: Cancer is such a powerful topic. My two grandma's, aunt's, uncle's, have all died from cancer. I also know many survivors. I love how you give examples of how we can lower our chance of getting it. It was so powerful when you told us how it is "our" problem, so moving. Your talk was so powerful, it was great! :)

  7. Megan,

Good job for not being afraid to use a personal story. Also, good job for polling the crowd. It got us involved and more attentive.

I would move around more, and not keep your hands in one position. You can add a whole other dynamic to your talk with movement.

Great talk, overall! It was meaningful and well given.

  8. The first word I think of: Death.
Cancer is death. Almost every "natural" death is cancer. The only ways to die without cancer are: mortal wounding, poisoning, and diseases and defects. These aren't all that frequent in the US (I mean, they are, but not nearly as far as cancer( Okay, Heart disease is only slightly higher in the US. Then cancer.

  9. Megan- I'm very glad that you tried to come up with a solution to the problem and not just depressing everyone. Your solution turns a negative topic into a positive message. You make me want to become active. Everything was clear and well done. Great work.

  10. Megan- I really related to your story. My best friend's mother also suffered from cancer. She died also and left her children orphaned. Your topic was very close to my heart since my grandpa also died from cancer. You did very well with the topic. I really liked how you linked the disease to everyone, because it truely doesn't only affect the person who has it.

  11. Megan- Your story really related to me because I have know a lot people who have either died or survived cancer. YOu seem very prepared and confident. When you talk about diet and excerise I knew exactly what you were talking about. My aunt had cancer and lost her leg to it. She has changed to a microbiotic diet and has fought off her cancer for the second time. Great topic!

  12. Megan- Your topic was very touching and relatable. I could personally connect, having known people who had cancer. The idea of cancer being everyone's problem was great, especially as many people who do not have cancer feel they can do nothing.

  13. I understand how Megan's topic was a big deal, and a good one to choose, but I don't really see how we can take cancer as a challenge except for leading a healthier life. Otherwise, I really enjoyed what she had to say.

  15. Megan- I know at least one person that had cancer, my aunt. It affected everyone not just her family. After seeing the picture of chewing tobacco cancer, it made me pay my full attention to how not to get cancer. Great talk, yet it was a little depressing!

  17. Your beginning story drew me in, because it was sad. I liked how your talk was factual. YOur brought a lot of light and good information to cancer, which is something that does not want to be talked or throught about. Also, your point about tanning was very true. Good job!

  18. Megan- You very emotional, and we all could easily connect to knowing someone with cancer. Amazing job!

  24. Your talk was very emotionally as well as intellectually involved. It really made me think and realize that we can control cancer to a certain point. One thing that was effective was how you showed those really gross pictures, because it made the situation more real. Good job!
